Youth Division General FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

In which age group does my child belong?
Please check the Youth Registration page to see in which age group your child can register. If your child is younger than the age groups mentioned, then please see the Mini Registration page. If your child is older than the age groups mentioned, then please see the Senior Registration page.

What do youth soccer players wear?
* Jerseys are provided by Dartmouth United.  A post-dated $50 jersey deposit cheque must be provided before your child receives a jersey. This can be brought with you if you register in person. If you register online, other arrangements will be made to collect your jersey deposit cheque. The cheque will be cashed if the jersey is not returned at the end of the season.
* Soccer shorts (with no pockets or zippers) and soccer socks.
Shorts and socks for Dartmouth United youth teams are availabe for purchase at Cleve's Source For Sports stores. The Burnside location ((60 Akerley Boulevard) would have the largest size selecton.
* Soccer shin pads are mandatory. We recommend shin pads that include ankle protection. The shin pads are worn under soccer socks.
* Indoor: Indoor socer shoes.
* Outdor: Soccer cleats (or turf shoes for teams who have games scheduled on turf) are mandatory.

Where do we purchase soccer clothing and equipment?
* Cleve’s Source For Sports is a supplier for Dartmouth United. You can obtain a discount card from the club office, and present it at Cleve’s when you purchase soccer gear.  Cleve's is offering special deals during DU Days from March 24th to April 3rd. 

Winter Season FAQs

When does the fall/winter season start?
* Team tryouts and balancing sessions begin in late September.
* Practices begin once teams have been selected.
* Tier 1 play begins in November.
* All other divisions begin in November.

How do we know if games or practices are cancelled?
* CISL and MISL games - check the website for your league.
* Practices in HRM facilities - check news media for HRM cancellatons. If schools are closed for the day, they are not available for community use. 
* Notices may be posted on our website, if cancellations are known in sufficient time.
* Use your own discretion when deciding whether to attend events in poor weather conditions.

What should we bring to indoor soccer?
* unbreakable water bottle
* wear street shoes to your game or practice, and change your footwear at the facility
 

Summer Season FAQs

When does the summer season start?
* Team tryouts and balancing sessions begin in March or April, depending on the age group and level of play.
* Practices begin once teams have been selected.
* Tier 1 play begins in May.
* All other divisions begin in late May or early June.
 

How do we know if fields are closed?
* HRM will close the fields if they are considered unsafe. This could be due to wet weather, thunderstorm advisories, or other adverse weather conditions. Fields can also be closed for maintenance.
* You can check on field closures by accessing our website link to
HRM field conditions. You can also call the HRM facility scheduling line at 490-7100 (press "2" for field conditions and "2" for East Division, which includes Dartmouth).
* Cancelled sessions are usually rescheduled.

What should we bring to outdoor soccer?
* unbreakable water bottle
* sunscreen if you’re playing during the day
* pants and jacket or sweatshirt if the weather is cool
* insect repellant, if desired
