Help Required

For our programs to be successful, we need your help. Please read about many of our volunteer positions, and assist however you can.

Please fill out our Volunteer Recruitment form and submit it to the DU office if you are interested in helping out!

Sponsorship Committee chairperson
Responsibilities include leading, organizing, and supporting the members of the Sponsorship Committee in their quest to strengthen existing sponsorships and establish new ones. Valuable qualities include a strong business background, a keen sense of socially responsibility, and a team-focused approach. The Chair acts as the spokesperson for the committee.

Volunteer Appreciation Night coordinator
A minimum of 2 people are required. A long-time volunteer has been organizing this event for many years. She would like to pass the duties on to others, and is willing to share her knowledge with them. Volunteer Appreciation Night takes place in September. Tasks include organizing the event, accepting RSVPs, and purchasing awards to honour chosen volunteers.

Age group coordinator
Positions can be shared with other volunteers. Tasks include organizing teams and answering questions about programs for a particular age group. The majority of the work is done before teams begin their season. Due to the number of teams involved, we welcome several coordinators at the U4, U6 and U8 age groups.

Mini field coordinator
Positions can be shared with other volunteers. This is a new position we would like to create, to share the work amongst more volunteers. Field coordinators would report field maintenance problems to the DUSC office. They would check with coaches at a particular field, to see if there are any problems or concerns. Jersey deposit cheques will be stored in a secure location for the summer. The field coordinator would pick up cheques collected by coaches, and deliver them to the DUSC office.

Team coach
Training is available, and positions can be shared with others. We rely on parents, older soccer players and other volunteers to coach our teams. Without volunteers, our teams can’t operate.

Team manager
For mini teams, team managers coordinate communication with parents, organize snack times, and assist with the team in other ways. For youth teams, the team manager enlists help from team parents, to handle the administrative aspects of team management. These would include paying referees at the field, helping the coach with equipment (e.g. putting up/taking down nets), organizing participation in tournaments, collecting team fees (if required), organizing fundraising (if desired), etc. An information manual is available on our website.

Soccermania Minifest committee
Our organizing committee requires a minimum of 4 more members. Tasks include all aspects of planning for our mini Soccermania event in July.

Soccermania Minifest assistance
A minimum of 10 people are required each day. Tasks include directing families to games, answering questions, setting up for the event, and cleaning up when it’s over.

Mini Fun Day assistance

Youth Tier 2 Tournament committee

Youth Tier 2 Tournament assistance
A minimum of 10 people are required each day. Tasks include working at tournament headquarters, delivering supplies to fields, organizing volunteer field marshals, setting up for the event, and cleaning up when it’s over.

Team equipment and uniform preparation
